This collection of jewellery pieces was photographed for Leigh Leal a jewellery designer and creator based near Chichester in Sussex. Leigh was after some simple clean white background images of her jewellery to be used for her website and also for some print advertising. The aim here was to make her unique designs really stand out whilst keeping those nice clean sharp lines of the jewellery. She opted to have a nice soft shadow underneath each piece to help it hold to the page.
Leigh’s jewellery is focused on utilising sculptural and artistic licence. She is inspired by Trinidad and Tobago Carnival and the local folklore of Papa Bois, she create’s jewellery that is playful, full of life and not afraid to shout “Be Bold, Be Brave!”. Her pieces are made by a technique called Mokume Gane this is created by heat and pressure fusing 6 – 120 alternating layers of ferrous and non-ferrous sheets of metal. The unified fused billet is then forged and uniquely carved using contemporary techniques before being fabricated into a finished piece of work.
We managed to photograph 15 pieces from the half day that she spent with us and after some post production work we had our final images. Really enjoyed working with Leigh and listening to her creative techniques she uses to style her jewellery it was great to photograph some pieces that was unique and different, a very talented lady.
